Every Moodle course has a Course Format. A course format refers to the layout of a course.

At Whitireia and WelTec the most common course formats are Collapsed Topics and Grid.

Collapsed Topics

This course format has an 'accordion style' look where course sections can be 'toggled' on and off. This reduces the amount of screen space topics take up in courses that have many topics, lots of content or a combination of the two:

Grid

This course format hides all topics and creates a grid of images (one for each topic) with short titles. Clicking on an image brings up the content from the corresponding topic in a "lightbox" style display.

Editing the Course Format

You can adjust the Course Format by clicking the grey 'cog' icon > Edit settings:

And scrolling down to Course Format:

Each course format has its own set of options, you can adjust each as needed.

If you are unsure of what a setting does, click the blue 'question mark' icon next to the setting for a brief description.

Some programmes may have a set course template for consistency. If this is the case talk to your programme manager before making any changes to the course format.
